D F A-BOUT

DFA is an urban dance company founded by Christella Mavris in 2004. We specialise in commercial styles of street dancing from beginner level upwards but also touch on other styles such as contemporary and traditional break dancing. We are also the only company offering training in the styles of 'House' and 'Waacking' within Bournemouth and Poole. We have developed several professional partnerships over the years ranging from Film Producers to Musicians and strive to provide opportunities for everyone who wishes to be a part of our work.

DFA stands for “Dance For All” which is a summary of the company’s intentions: to provide opportunities for all those who enjoy dancing and are interested in learning it. We have run many successful projects in the last several years including ‘Outside-In, Anti-Bullying Production’, ‘Urban Streetz’ and ‘The 4 Elementz.’ We are always working on new events and collaborating with other people within the arts field including musicians, graphic designers, editors and producers of many descriptions.

We currently run open classes in the central parts of both Bournemouth and Poole learning routines and techniques of the genre. If students enjoy this and wish to progress to a more professional level, we also hold auditions for our junior and senior dance crews.
