About our Teachers
Stella studied a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at Bournemouth and Poole College. She continued her training at Laban School of Dance receiving a Diploma in professional community dance eventually returning to Bournemouth founding DFA and setting up classes in the area for the local community. Stella works closely with local talent creating a platform and providing opportunities for young people to perform. She is now an established events manager and one of the founders of `Urban Carnival’ a live entertainment event which showcases Dance Groups, Singers and musicians on a monthly basis. Apart from the above she is an established performer, choreographer and company director of DFA!!!
Mike began dancing at age 12 performing in various shows with “Suspended Animation”, a crew best known for winning the “Hopes And Dreams” talent show. As well as developing his skills within B-Boy and Michael Jackson techniques, he has studied contemporary and traditional street dance at Poole College. He is a versatile member of DFA always proving he has something to offer, whatever his student’s interest. His abilities as a break-dancer have proved popular within the company and he now leads classes within this field, aiming to increase its popularity in the south of the UK
Darren has been teaching Hip Hop for over 9 years, worked with different crews and artists all over the U.K. evloving his own craft, in to what he teach's today.
Darrens ‘Hip Hop’ classes are based around the old school and nu-school styles of dance and choreography.
Spanning the genres and eras from 70’s and 80’s Locking, Popping, moving (and shaking) all the way to present day Krumping and Nu-Style, you can learn the moves of the likes of Flawless, Zoo Nation, Diversity and the style of Chris Brown, Usher and Nicki Minaj.
These techniques will be taught against classic and recent Hip Hop music. Which makes his classes up-to-date and contemporary, providing you with the perfect backdrop to progress as a Hip Hop dancer.
Martella began her training in Oxford before moving to the south with her family where she is now studying for a National Diploma in Dance Performance at Bournemouth and Poole College. She joined with DFA as an apprentice in 2008 and has proved herself to be a very strong participant. Her main ability and focus has always been free styling as she was originally self-taught prior to her formal training in contemporary and street dance. Martella now teaches all ages within DFA, making her a versatile person who can be encouraging to anybody who is passionate about street dancing.
Jade is curently studying A level dance and has an apprenticeship with Stella Mavris.
She has experiance in Lockin', Waackin, House, Old School Hip Hop and Street.
